Data protection
Privacy
What this site collects, who sees it, and what rights you have.
Who is responsible
The data controller is MUNEV SRL, registered at Bărăștii Hațegului, com. Sântămăria-Orlea, nr. 85, 337442, jud. Hunedoara, Romania. For anything concerning your data, write to info@madetoexplore.eu.
What we do not do
This site sets no cookies. It has no tracking pixels, no social buttons and no forms. The only measurement is a cookie-less statistics service, described below, which cannot identify you. The fonts are served from our own server, so opening a page sends nothing to Google or to any other content provider. The one exception is the network that delivers the site, described below: your request passes through it to reach us.
The server and the delivery network
The site runs on our own server in a data centre in the Netherlands and is delivered through Cloudflare, a network that filters attacks and speeds up loading. To do that, Cloudflare processes your IP address and the technical details of the request. Cloudflare Inc. acts as a processor under a data processing agreement, and transfers outside the European Union are covered by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
Usage statistics
To know how many people read the site and which routes they open, we use Fathom Analytics, a statistics service built not to identify anyone. It sets no cookies and stores no personal identifiers: it records the page visited, the site you came from, the browser type and the country, derived from the IP address without the address itself being kept. Requests from visitors in the European Union are processed on servers in the European Union. Fathom is operated by Conva Ventures Inc., Canada, acting as a processor under a data processing agreement; Canada holds an adequacy decision from the European Commission for data handled by commercial organisations. The legal basis is legitimate interest, Article 6(1)(f) of the General Data Protection Regulation: knowing whether the site is read, without tracking anyone.
Pages kept on your device
So that the site works where there is no signal, your browser keeps a copy of the pages you have read and of the fonts and images they use, in its own storage on your device. When you tap “Save for the road” on a route, it also keeps that route’s map PDF and GPX file. This copy stays on your device: nothing about it is sent to us or to anyone else, it contains no personal data, and it is not used to recognise or follow you. You can remove a saved route with the same button, or clear everything in your browser’s settings for this site.
What is logged and for how long
The server and Cloudflare keep technical logs: IP address, time of access, page requested, response code and browser type. Server logs are kept for at most thirty days and then deleted automatically. Cloudflare retains traffic data for a short period under its own policy. None of it is used to identify you or to track your behaviour.
Legal basis
Technical logs and attack protection are processed on the basis of legitimate interest, Article 6(1)(f) of the General Data Protection Regulation: the interest in keeping the site running and secure. E-mail correspondence rests on the same basis, the interest in answering your message.
If you write to us
Your e-mail address and the content of your message are used only to reply, and kept for as long as the correspondence makes sense and at most two years. We pass them to no one and add them to no mailing list. The mailbox itself, however, runs on Microsoft 365, a paid service: Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited stores and processes the messages as a processor, under its data protection terms, and transfers outside the European Union are covered by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
Your rights
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. Requests go to info@madetoexplore.eu and are answered within one month. If our answer does not satisfy you, you may complain to the Romanian data protection authority, ANSPDCP.
